Hunnystory: Gaby Zarcal

It's that time of the month again at Hunnywax, where we proudly showcase outstanding individuals who truly deserve the spotlight. This month, we've got something special for you as we introduce to you: Gaby Zarcal and her awe-inspiring lifestyle, passion, and hobby. We asked Gaby to delve into her unique stories and learn more about their new adventures and creative outlets.

Were there sacrifices made in order for you to have a chance to chase your passion?

When I started off my gigs, I was still in college, wrapping up my thesis and juggling internships. It was a sacrifice managing school, work, and delving into DJing with zero prior experience. Achieving balance became my major sacrifice, but all I really wanted was to DJ, so I adjusted my schedule to make it happen at the end of the day even if that meant having to work for shoots before my gigs and even after.

What pushed you to place yourself out of your comfort zone?

What pushed me out of my comfort zone and start djing was just out of genuine passion and interest in music and wanting to share that with others. Going for what I love taught me that at my end goal is to just have fun and to love the experience, but being able to share that with others just makes it all the more worthwhile.

Would you recommend people to chase their dreams even though it could be the road less traveled?

Yes, always!! I really believe that being yourself, knowing who you are and taking on what you without caring what anyone else thinks is the most important thing i’ve learned so far in my life. I think going for the road less traveled is more exciting cause you’ll never know what you’ll learn and end up experiencing. I think doing new things will just show you how strong you are and discover parts of yourself you’ll be proud of being.

Has chasing your passion gotten you to a situation where you wanted to give up? If so, how did you persevere?

Honestly juggling work, school and becoming a Dj was too much for me at one point that I had to stop taking gigs for awhile and focus on graduating and getting a job. I stopped playing gigs for 7 months to focus on work but eventually I came to the realization that I can be working and a hobby at the same time. I learned how to make more space for my craft and worked even harder on my mixes and setlists to get my dream gigs.

What would be your message of inspiration to others who want to chase their dreams and passion like you?

I think Believing in yourself is the first step to doing anything. Even if you don’t know what you’re doing still be willing enough to challenge yourself and take things on!
