Were there sacrifices made in order for you to have a chance to chase your passion?

Definitely. You lose old versions of yourself. And while we all strive to achieve a level of comfort in life, comfort can be a trap. I had to learn how to embrace being displaced, different, misunderstood, even disliked. Chasing after your passion can sometimes feel lonely but that’s okay. I used to dread the sad days but now I know you’ll always need the dark to better see the light. Yin and yang.

What pushed you to place yourself out of your comfort zone?

If you never go, you’ll never grow. It’s the same thing when you surf. Most of the time, it’s the wave that scares you that turns out to be your best wave of the day. If you don’t go, you won’t know. It’s better to go and fail and have data to process after than never trying and never learning anything new.

Would you recommend people to chase their dreams even though it could be the road less traveled?

Yes, I would. We regret what we don’t do more than what we’ve done. You have to trust that you’ll always have the skills and the support to get you through anything. If you’re stuck believing that you can’t, then you won’t. It’s amazing how much power and influence your mind has over the events that take place in your life. I know it sounds easier said than done but winning the battle in your head is almost always the hardest part.
If you’re struggling, I hope you have a strong support system. Sometimes, just one person believing in you can make all the difference. So find the right people, those who share in your vision and say good things about you when you aren’t around.

Has chasing your passion gotten you to a situation where you wanted to give up? If so, how did you persevere?

Yes. Nothing worth doing ever comes easy. A lot of people choose to avoid struggle because it makes them feel uncomfortable– but that’s exactly the point. Learning how to overcome a challenge is one of the most beautiful things about being human. It makes us smarter, stronger, and most importantly, more compassionate toward the struggles of others.
When you are persevering, it can also feel like no one has your back. But nothing lasts forever, not even hardship. Have faith that you’ll always, always catch a break.

What would be your message of inspiration to others who want to chase their dreams and passion like you?

If you’re feeling down, you’re probably on the right track. It sounds counterintuitive, doesn’t it? We’ve been conditioned to believe that success can only come with positive feelings. But if you’re being challenged by situations in your life, it might help you to know that these are exactly what you need to go through to get to where you want to be. And don’t be ashamed if you’re feeling down. Everyone goes through it, believe me. Some of us are just better at dealing with stress. The good thing is everyone can get better at that with patience and practice.
And cheer for others often. Unabashedly clap for others when they win! Holding grudges or being envious are just weights that will hold you back and sink you deeper. We’re all going to make it. Isn’t it better to believe in that?
